When I first met Layne I was delinquent on payments and full of indignation toward my ex. I had gone through my divorce in a state of shock and emotional distress, which led me to give up everything without considering how difficult life would become after the fact and felt I had been cheated. I had a very nasty divorce involving a bipolar wife who claimed her lawyer had told her she could take all my kids if she accused me of sexual abuse; four biological children and a foster child taken in after another couple’s adoption had failed. I wanted to protect my children from having to see their parents duke it out in court but also protect them from the neglect and emotional abuse they were suffering from their mother.
